Released Box Pleats: A New Way to Change an Old Pattern

Berryhill Heirlooms
Learn to make a new style of pleats: released box pleats in a beautiful white baby dress with delicate, hand embroidered pink Lilies of the Valley and granitos on the pleats. This dress, featured in Sew beautiful Issue 129, whispers springtime and sweetness for a very special baby! The collar is finished with a scalloped, hand pin stitched Madeira edge in tiny pink gingham and granitos. Class time will be spent learning how to design and correctly place pleats on a garment. Students will hand embroider most of the dress front, stitch the pleats of the block, then cut out the dress front. The machine/hand method used on the Madeira collar will also be covered in class. Students will complete the dress on their own.

The kit has enough fabric to make size 0-3, 6-9 or a 12 month dress. Stitches covered: hand Madeira (pin stitch), stem, outline, chain, granito and shadow work. This a a 9-hour SAGA approved class.
