Costumed needlework demonstrations are a favorite and include a 1890's attired Victorian lady to demonstrate various needlework techniques and Crazy Quilting, a Colonial lady dressed in "undress" (working clothes of the 18th century, or, a Civil War attired lady (complete with hoop skirts) who demonstrates fine needlework. Susie has had the pleasure of demonstrating her craft at the Smithfield Patriot Day history celebrations and Smithfield Olden Days. Of course lovely Handmade items are for sale during these venues. Shows are set up and offer for purchase many of the items featured at Berryhill Heirlooms and possibly other interesting and unique treasures. If you or your organization wish to schedule a demonstration or workshop please contact Berryhill Heirlooms through our website email address at sgay@berryhillheirlooms.com.
*June 26-27, 2010: Smithfield Olden Days. Two days of fun, food, vendors, various historic attractions and enactments, and music, all in downtown Smithfield and the surrounding area. Susie will again help in the Old Courthouse in colonial costume, and perhaps demonstrate various colonial-era needlework techniques.
* The SAGA National Convention this year (21 - 26 September 2010) will be at the Waterside Marriott in Norfolk, Virginia, and will be wonderful! Market Day will be Friday, 24 Sep. We will have lots of goodies since the Convention will be almost in our backyard. We look forward to seeing you!
*October 9, 2010. Court Day at the Old Court House in Smithfield, Virginia. This stately arcaded colonial courthouse (one of only 4 remaining in the United States) will be the site of historical court cases that will be re-enacted by costumed participants during the day. Susie, and other crafters in historically correct clothing, will demonstrate colonial needlework popular during the 1700's. Come by and enjoy this unique experience!
