A lifelong passion for all things related to a needle developed beyond a dream into reality in 2006 when Berryhill Heirlooms was created out of Susie Gay's love of needlework, sewing and collection of antique needlework tools (not to mention her dedication to making jam out of different luscious berries grown on the family homesite: hence the company's name). Susie's blog,
berryhillheirlooms.blogspot.com, has everything about her patterns, projects, quilting and Singer Featherweight sewing machines.
Berryhill Heirlooms offers patterns, kits, notions, pearl cotton, silk ribbon embroidery and classes for the Heirloom Sewing enthusiast. Susie continues to teach for the Smocking Arts Guild of America and taught at Stitchin' at the Beach (formally Sewing at the Beach, a sewing and stitching convention in Myrtle Beach, SC) for 6 years. She is an award-winning needle artist. She has written numermous articles for Creative Needle, Sew Beautiful, SAGA News magazines, and continues to write for Classic Sewing magazine.
The newest pattern in the Berryhill Heirlooms family is The Notions Necessaire, a unique way to carry and store your sewing notions. It looks like a purse, but opens up to reveal two long pockets, pincushion, emery, needle book, double pocket and spool keeper. The newest kit is the Elegance Christening Gown ensemble featuring an underdress, overdress and two bonnet variations offered in all white, pink and white, and ivory and white combinations.
