Carmen Opera Cape
Imagine your 18-inch doll going to the opera, or a winter ball, in this elegant, smocked and beaded velveteen cape! It is fully lined in crepe backed satin with satin piping and satin cord for ties that are finished with beaded tassels. Her little hands can peep out of the side openings so she can hold a purse or muff, and the smocked and beaded collar can help keep her warm. Students will smock 3+ rows in class using cable and 2-step wave stitches, cut out the rest of the pieces and construct the cape by bagging the lining (after making and inserting the piping and ties). If there is enough time the tassels will be made in class but pattern instructions fully cover the process. Students will finish smocking and beading the collar on their own on their completed cape. The kit will be offered in black or white (pictured) velveteen. This is a six-hour, SAGA-approved machine class.
